SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) held a meeting with representatives of the International Potato Center (CIP) on 20 September 2026 at the SAC Office in Dhaka to explore opportunities for collaboration and joint initiatives in agriculture.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Md. Golam Mahboob, Director, SAC, along with Specialists of the Centre. The International Potato Center was represented by Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Country Manager, India, International Potato Center and Dr. Ebna Habib Md. Shofiur Rahaman (Sohag), Senior Manager, CIP Bangladesh.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both organisations to exchange views on potential areas of cooperation and identify opportunities for joint initiatives in agriculture. Discussions focused on strengthening institutional collaboration between SAC and CIP and exploring areas of mutual interest that could contribute to sustainable agricultural development, knowledge exchange and innovation.

The participants also discussed the potential for collaborative activities that could generate and share knowledge relevant to the agricultural priorities of the SAARC Member States. Such cooperation could further support regional learning, technology sharing and the dissemination of good practices in the agriculture sector.Dr. Md. Golam Mahboob appreciated the engagement with CIP and emphasised the importance of partnerships with leading international agricultural organisations in advancing regional cooperation and knowledge sharing.The meeting concluded with a shared interest in further exploring avenues for collaboration between SAC and CIP and supporting initiatives that contribute to sustainable and resilient agriculture across the SAARC region.
