The Regional Expert Consultation Meeting on “Impacts of Agricultural Chemicals Inputs on the Environment and Human Health in South Asia” was held on 21-22 April 2021. It was organized by SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) in a virtual mode and the National Focal Experts from all eight SAARC Member Countries participated in this important meeting. The Chief Guest Mr. Md. Mesbahul Islam, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the inaugural session of the meeting. Dr. S.M. Bokhtiar, Executive Chairman, Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council attended the session as Special Guest. The Director of SAARC Agriculture Centre, Dr. Md. Baktear Hossain chaired the inaugural session. Mr. Kinzang Gyeltshen, Senior Program Specialist of SAC cordially welcomed the National Focal Experts from eight Member States and other participants on the virtual meeting platform. He highlighted the objectives of the meeting and stressed the importance of the meeting as excessive use of agricultural chemicals led to adverse impact on the environment and human health in South Asian region.
