SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) was organized a Regional Consultation Meeting on “Impacts of Agricultural Chemical Inputs on the Environment and Human Health in South Asia”. The inaugural session of the two day’s consultation meeting was held on 21 April 2021 in virtual mode. SAARC Agriculture Centre under the umbrella of SAARC is actively engaged in enhancing agricultural research and development and disseminating agricultural technologies to farmers in SAARC Region. The National Focal Experts from eight SAARC Member Countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) were participated in this important meeting. Mr. Md. Mesbahul Islam, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the inaugural session as the Chief Guest.

Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Bokhtiar, Executive Chairman, Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council (BARC) was attended the inaugural session as Special Guests. Dr. Md Baktear Hossain, Director, SAARC Agriculture Centre, made his remarks as the chairperson of the inaugural session of the two days consultation meeting. Mr. Kinzang Gyeltshen, Senior Program Specialist (NRM), SAC, and program coordinator of this consultation meeting cordially welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance and objectives of the meeting.
After two days of deliberation and threadbare discussion, the learned participants and National Focal Point Experts would be able to come-up with solid recommendations for the SAARC Member Countries to be successfully implemented.
