The SAC team comprising of Dr. Ashis Kumar Samanta (SPS– Livestock), Dr. Sreekanth Ataluri (SPS- Crops), Mr. Kinzang Gyeltshen (SPS- NRM), Dr. Grinson George (SPS- Fisheries)   Dr. Younus Ali (Senior Technical Officer) and Ms. Fatema Nasrin Jahan (SPO- NRM) visited the following institutions located at Gazipur and Mymensingh on 14-15 November 2020 with the objective was to know the NARS activities, future collaboration work and program development.

Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI)

Dr. Md. Nazirul Islam, Director General, BARI made welcome remarks to SAC team and other distinguished guests in the meeting. BARI gave a presentation on ‘Overview of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute’ in the meeting.  The detail discuss were made for future collaboration work with BARI.

Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI)

Bangladesh Rice Research Institute discussed about the possibility for collaboration between the  SAC and BRRI on sustainable agricultural development in the region. BRRI gave a presentation focusing on BRRI’s activities.

Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI)

BFRI gave a presentation focusing on BFRI’s activities in details.  Dr. Yahia Mahmud, Director General, BFRI shared about the possibility for future collaboration between the SAC and BFRI. DG also discussed regarding the germplasms exchange by involving the SAARC Member States.

Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA)

Director General, BINA made welcome remarks to SAC Team and other distinguished guests in the meeting.  BINA gave a presentation on ‘Overview Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA)’ in the meeting.  The meeting is discussed to establish a regional network to exchange of information and knowledge for sustainable agriculture development in SAARC Member States.

Germplasms Centre

Professor Dr. M. A. Rahim, Dean Agriculture Faculty and Director Germplasms Centre shared the centre’s activities through presentation with the SAC team. The meeting told that SAC can take initiative to make joint agreement to exchange germplasms by involving three or four Member States of SAARC.
